Part 19
Early morning had arrived as the sunlight beamed down on the street on either side of Wood Berry's largest bridge. Norton had been up for a couple of hours as was his normal routine. He had taken on the task of getting some of the homeless people up and ready for each day’s events. For Norton this wasn't hard, at lest not anymore. As each day presented its' self Norton always had one specific goal in mind. Besides him, there was another person of great importance that slept under that expensive bridge.
It had been decided this past weekend that James and Simone would join him in his cause to bring about some sense of social change for these lost and forgotten people. He had not exactly planned on having anyone; especially any of his fellow school chums join him in his efforts. However, it was a great relief to him that of all of the friends he could possibly have with him on this mission, James and Simone had been the first ones to come aboard. At least with those two Norton could be his real self and never have to worry about the repercussion of why he was doing this thing.
For too long now the very people of this quiet little town had ignored what was really going on with all of the displaced families. How many times he thought as he walked along the street heading up under the bridge had he turned away from the faces that he now looked forward to seeing each day.
This was not how things were suppose to be. Norton stopped for a second taking in the scene all around the bridge. It bugged him to no end that that damn bridge cost as much as it did to build, but not one penny would ever be afforded to helping these people. Where was the common good of mankind he wondered?
With that thought in mind Norton return to his unofficial duties of helping those of great misfortune start their less than average day. What would follow next in his plans to help out these people would depend on how successful James and Simone's day turned out.
For so many people, today would either be the start of something great for those in need, or perhaps it would be the day that Norton just got found. Could be that he would most likely be put in jail for having stirred the pot at little too much.
Either way all he could do was to wait, and that was the hardest part of the whole plan. Now it was up to his two wayward buddies to pull others' in and hopefully start to build their own pot of resources.
James and Simone were one hundred percent on board with the plan and things were already in the works. By the days' end the ball would be rolling and things would never be the same. Somehow that was the best part of what was left to come.
Fate can be a tricky issue. Add in a few good hearts with strong souls and a lot of wishful thinking and you never know just how great the human race can really be. When we rise to the occasion the process can literally change the hearts and minds of those that most need it.
How could we go wrong with that?
